An Ibadan Magistrates’
Court on Friday sentenced a 25-year-old man, Godwin Okorowu, to three months
imprisonment for stealing a cell phone.
The Chief Magistrate,
Mr Taiwo Oladiran, said Okorowu was found guilty of stealing one Alcatel phone
belonging to one Grace Adeshina.
The convict had pleaded
guilty to the charge.
He admitted stealing
the cell phone and sold it to buy another phone (a tablet).
Oladiran, however, gave
the convict N15, 000 option of fine.
The convict was
arraigned on a count of stealing of cell phone belonging to one Mrs Grace
Adeshina of Apete area, Ibadan.
Earlier, the
Prosecutor, Sgt. Femi Omilana, told the court that Okorowu on Jan. 23, at about
2:20p.m., at I.D.C Primary School, Apete, Ibadan stole one Alcatel cell phone
valued N50, 000.
According to him, the
offence contravened Section 390 (9) of the Criminal Code Cap 38, Vol. II Laws
of Oyo State 2000.
