Gov. Badaru Abubakar of Jigawa said his
administration had embarked on the construction of viable road and rural
infrastructure developmental projects to boost the growth of agriculture in the
state.
Abubakar said this
while inspecting the more than 200-kilometre eastern by-pass road project in
Hadejia.
The News Agency of
Nigeria (NAN) reports that the road project is designed to link border
communities of Maigatari-Malammadori-Birniwa, Kirikasamma and Guri Local
Government Councils with the neighbouring Niger Republic.
The governor said that
his administration accorded priority to road development to enhance
transportation and improve the social and economic wellbeing of the people.
He added that the state
government had also constructed township and access roads to link villages so
that farmers would be able to transport their produce to the city centres.
This would also open up
the state, he said.
“The projects are
designed to open up the rural communities and ease movements of farm produce to
the markets.
“It is a deliberate
policy to transform agriculture and improve the social and economic wellbeing
of the people,” he said.
NAN reports that the
governor also inspected the 44-km Bulangu-Kafinhausa, Guri and Hadejia township
road projects.
Also, the state
government said it had evolved effective modalities that would ensure the
completion of the School of Nursing project in Hadejia.
Gov. Abubakar who said
this while inspecting the project in Hadejia added that the school would begin
its academic session by the end of the year.
The governor said that
arrangements were in the pipeline to deploy instructors in the school.
