An Ado-Ekiti Magistrates’ Court has sentenced a man, Kunle Ajewole, 45, to six years imprisonment for fraudulently obtaining N300,000 on the pretext of supplying cashew nuts.
The Magistrate, Mrs Modupe Afeniforo, convicted Ajewole, who at his arraignment in 2012, had pleaded not guilty to the charge .
Afeniforo said the prosecution had proved its case beyond reasonable doubt during the long trial, noting that the the convict jumped bail and was only recently re-arrested.
During the trial, the prosecutor, Insp. Bayo Ajiboye told the court that the accused committed the offence sometime in February 2012 at Idofin Street, Odo-Ado in Ado-Ekiti.
He said the accused obtained N300,000 from the complainant, Mr Adeyinka Ikotun, a civil servant, but failed to supply the cashew nuts as agreed.
The offence contravened Section 419 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti State,1990. (NAN)
